    BREAKFAST

    • Surf Camp: Great coffee and lattes with some fun cafe style breakfast options like lox bagel and egg salad sandwich.

    • Hina Rae’s: Amazing acai bowls and some more local style breakfast options like spam breakfast sandwich and poke nachos.

    LUNCH

    • Big Island Tokyo Table: Our favorite quick lunch on the island! Classic Japanese dishes like ramen, udon, and donburi.

    • Village Burger: Best burger on the island. Nuff said.

    • Jam Pot: Fun and easy grab-and-go healthy Jamaican food, smoothies, salads, and wraps

    • Pau Pizza/Taco Rosa: Great pizza made with local ingredients and yummy tacos/burritos in the same restaurant.

    • Merriman's: Great choice for a fine dining experience in Waimea.

    15 Minutes down the mountain from Waimea

    • Da Fish House - Fresh local poke! Perfect grab and go on your way to the beach.

    • Kohala Burger - Great burgers and fresh fish tacos.

    • Sushi Sam - Our favorite sushi! (Need an advance reservation!)

    • Journey Cafe - Great vegetarian restaurant!

    • Pine Tree Cafe - Get the spicy garlic chicken you won’t regret it ;) It’s right by the airport so a great place to stop on your way for quick bite.

    HILO

    • Beach 69/Waialea Bay - Nice beach with lots of shady areas. Snorkeling here too!

    • Spencer’s Beach - This is our local go-to beach, just 15 minutes from Waimea. We love to grab poke from Da Fish house and have a nice afternoon.

    • Hapuna Beach - Another great options! Big white sandy beach.

    • Kiholo Bay: A bay very near and dear to our hearts! Black sandy beach, sea turtles, and a kiawe forest. 4WD not required, but recommended.

  • HIKING

    OTHER ADVENTURES

    • Captain cook/Kealakekua Bay - While you can hop on a tour boat to get here, we recommend renting a kayak, and some snorkel gear. Kayak into the bay and then hop out for a snorkel.

    • Swim with the Manta Rays - If you’re brave enough, book one of these tours to take a night time swim with the manta rays.

    • Volcano National Park - Even if the volcano isn’t erupting, there are lots of beautiful hikes and trails here, like Kīpukapuaulu Trail.
